This meal is soft, easy to swallow, and free from salt, sugar, and heavy spices, which are perfect for a baby's developing digestive system.
This recipe takes its cues from the classic beef and broccoli stir-fry but is softened and simplified for baby's palate and digestion. Meticulously cooked to ensure a texture that's easy to gum and swallow, we omit the heavy spices and sauces, focusing on the innate flavors of the ingredients themselves.
Ingredients
- 50g ground beef, preferably organic
- 100g white rice, washed and drained
- 100g broccoli florets, washed and cut into small, baby-bite-sized pieces
- 200ml water or sodium-free homemade vegetable stock
- A small pinch of thyme, finely ground (optional)
Instructions

In a small pot, add the rice and the water or vegetable stock. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce to a simmer for about 10 minutes.

While the rice is cooking, steam the broccoli until it is very soft, which should take about 5-7 minutes.

In a separate pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it's fully cooked and no longer pink, breaking it into very small pieces as it cooks. If using, sprinkle the thyme over the beef as it cooks.

Once the rice is cooked, add the ground beef to the pot and stir through.

Mash the cooked broccoli into a puree and stir it into the beef and rice mixture until well combined.

Let the dish cool down, then serve a portion that's appropriate for your baby's appetite.

Always test the temperature before serving it to your baby and adjust the consistency with a bit of water or breast milk if necessary.
